JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 12 MB and 4000 x 4000
Three steps, about a minute
Choose your image
Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP into the tool above or pick it from your device. Nothing leaves this tab.
Set the quality
Start at 82 percent. Lower it until the file is where you need it and the preview still looks right.
Download the result
Compare the two previews, check the saving printed underneath, then save the compressed file.
Built to be predictable
- You see both versions. Original and compressed sit side by side, with the exact saving printed underneath.
- Quality is a dial, not a guess. One slider from 10 to 100, so you can judge the trade-off by eye.
- WebP or JPEG, your choice. Keep the format you started with, or switch to WebP for a smaller file.
- Limits printed up front. 12 MB and 4000 x 4000 pixels, stated on this page rather than discovered at the last step.
About this tool
How much smaller will my image get?
Photographs usually drop 60 to 80 percent at the default quality with no visible change. Flat graphics and screenshots compress less, because there is less detail to discard. The side-by-side preview is there so you can find the point where it starts to show.
Does my image get uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression runs in your browser on your own device, so the file never leaves this tab. Closing the page is all the cleanup there is.
Which formats can I use?
JPG, PNG and WebP go in, up to 12 MB and 4000 x 4000 pixels. You can save the result as JPEG or WebP — WebP is usually 25 to 35 percent smaller at the same quality.
Will transparency be kept?
A transparent PNG loses its transparency when saved as JPEG, because JPEG has no alpha channel. Choose WebP if the transparent background matters.
Can I use the output commercially?
Yes, on any plan. The file is yours, there is no watermark, and nothing is attributed back to us.
