We got tired of installing software to do a two-minute job
Tools4Ease started in 2023 because compressing one PDF meant a download, an account, a watermark, and a daily limit. That is a bad trade for a task that should take ninety seconds. So we built the version we wanted: useful digital tools in one place, free, in the browser, with the limits written down.

Four rules we do not bend
These are the decisions that make the product feel different from the rest of the category. They also cost us money, which is rather the point.
The tool works before you pay
No tool is gated behind an account. If something is free today it stays free, and we will not move it later once you depend on it.
Your file stays yours
Where a format can be processed in the browser, it is. When a server is genuinely needed, the tool page says so and the file is deleted within an hour.
Limits are printed, not discovered
Every cap is on the tool page before you start. Nothing fails at the last step to sell you an upgrade.
Accessible by default
Full keyboard operation, visible focus, labelled controls, and AA contrast on every screen. Tested with a screen reader, not just a checklist.
Suggestions set the roadmap
About a third of last year’s releases came from the contact form. Volume of requests beats internal opinion.
Small on purpose
Four people, no growth team, no engagement targets. The goal is that you finish and leave, not that you stay.
How we got here
Slow, unglamorous, and mostly driven by what people asked for.
Six tools and one page
Started with a word counter, three PDF tools, and two converters, built in evenings for a group of students who kept asking the same questions.
Everything moved into the browser
Rewrote the PDF and image tools to run client-side. File uploads dropped by three quarters and the tools got faster on old phones.
Research and SEO shelves opened
Educators and small agencies were the two biggest groups using the site, so citation tools and site-audit tools were built for them specifically.
Pro launched, free tier untouched
Introduced an optional paid plan for batch work and large files. Not one existing free tool moved behind it.
Built with the people who use it most
Students and researchers
Word limits, citation styles, upload caps, and deadlines at midnight. The research and PDF shelves were shaped almost entirely by this group.
Educators and teams
One link to share with a class or a department, with nothing to license and no passwords to reset. Shared presets keep a team consistent.
Creators and developers
Image formats, meta tags, hashes, QR codes, and JSON — the small utilities that would otherwise be ten separate bookmarks.
