A straight number, not a sales pitch
- Mid-market rates. The rate banks quote each other, with no spread added on top.
- Five major currencies. USD, EUR, GBP, JPY and INR, which cover most everyday conversions.
- No account, no email. Nothing to sign up for and nothing to dismiss before you get an answer.
- Works on a phone. Useful at a counter, in a queue, or halfway through an invoice.
About this tool
Where do the rates come from?
A live exchange-rate service, queried at the moment you press convert. Unlike most tools on this site, this one does need the internet — only the currency pair is sent, never an amount tied to you.
Is this the rate I will actually get?
No. This is the mid-market rate. Banks, cards and money transfer services add a margin on top, so the amount that lands is usually a little lower. Use this as the honest baseline to compare their quote against.
How often do the rates update?
They are fetched fresh each time you convert, so the figure reflects the rate at that moment rather than a cached number from earlier in the day.
Why only five currencies?
Those five cover the majority of what people convert here. If you need another pair, ask through the contact form — requests decide what gets added.
Can I use it offline?
No. This is the one tool on the page that needs a connection, because live rates have to come from somewhere.
